Lockdown has taken its toll on us all, but have you also considered the fact that it may also have taken its toll on your gaming console too? All of that extra use during these weird times is sure to have left it at least a little worse off than before. If you’re guilty of a little too much gaming, you can be pretty certain that your console will be clogged with dust.
Instead of waiting for it to overheat and cause some serious damage, why not bring it in for a routine spring clean? This PS4 had seen better days, so the customer brought it in to us for a good old clean up. Soon after, it was quieter, cleaner, cooler and ready to play again.
How To Take Care Of Your Gaming Console…
The better you take care of your gaming console, the longer it will last. Follow these top tips to extend the lifespan of your console.
Keep It Dry…
Now we know that this one is obvious, but it’s still got to be mentioned. If you spill a drink on your console, it will have the same detrimental effect as spilling on a phone or computer – almost certain mechanical death. Always ensure to keep liquids far away from your console to keep it safe.
Give It Space…
Similarly to a computer or laptop, gaming consoles need space around them to be able to vent effectively. When there is a pile of games surrounding it, it can’t work optimally and can end up overheating. In turn, this can cause internal parts to break which can be a costly fix. Simply leaving it with enough space around the outside is definitely worth it.
Right Side Up…
All consoles have vents, usually on the back or the top. These are essential to keep your console cool. When playing your favourite game, think about whether your console is the right way up and the vents are not covered. It may take up more space, but it will help it to last a lot longer.
Take Breaks…
It’s easy to get carried away with a great game, but it’s very important to take breaks from it, not just for your sake, but for the sake of your gaming console too. Switching it off every few hours during a gaming session to allow it to cool down is best practice, prolonging its lifespan.
Dust It…
Dust is your gaming console’s worst enemy. It naturally works its way inside your console, coating the parts inside. This can again cause overheating, which is why it should be cleaned away. If you’re not comfortable with cleaning the inside of your console yourself, don’t worry because we can spring clean it for you!
You should get your console cleaned at least once per year to keep the dust levels down and ensure that it is running at the top of its game. You can book in for a gaming console clean by calling us on 01606 531631.
